We had a great time last weekend in St. George watching my Dad compete in the Huntsman Senior Games! He raced in 4 different cycling events and did a couple of basketball competitions! Final medal count.... 1 GOLD 1 BRONZE 2 Fourth place ribbons! The cycling events were: Tues: HILL CLIMB... riding to the top of Snow Canyon (sometimes as much as an 11% incline!) Wed: TIME TRIALS... 20K fastest time race through the canyons just outside of St. George. Thurs: CRITERIUM... this consisted of 13 laps (1.5 miles each) through a triangular street circuit! Each turn 120 degrees! YIKES!! Fri: 37K ROAD RACE... this was the event we were able to be there for! Kevin and I dropped him off in Gunlock to start the race and they raced up "the wall" and to the top of Snow Canyon and then back to Ivins! We were able to follow along in the truck and take a couple of picture before heading to wait for him at the finish line! What fun! I am so proud of my Dad!! And the kids thought that Grandpa was awesome! Way to go Dad!!
Saturday was also his 72nd birthday so we had a great celebration that evening!! We are just so proud of you Dad!! Thanks for letting us cheer you on and enjoy such a great weekend with you!

This is a picture his awesome neighbors Roger & Peggy took of the GOLD he got in the criterium race!
They were his pit crew and cheering section until we (my mom was with us because she had been here for baby Jordan) all got to St. George!
THANKS ROGER & PEGGY!

Everybody had fun making his birthday cake!
(nice bike and medal stand picture by Kev... good job babe!)
The kids surprised Grandpa with horns at the end of the birthday song!!
(then after about an hour and a half of them afterwards... the party horns made their way to a REALLY good hiding spot!)
We Love You Dad & Mom!
Thanks for a fun St. George visit AND for keeping the kids there this week for continued FUN!
See you next Sunday!

Hey Stace, I agree! Mike and I "raced" your dad to the top of Snow Canyon one trip and he totally wasted us both. But now that I known he's a medalist, I don't feel so bad!!
WOW! Being tough must be in your blood!! What a great father! He has really set the bar high! I hope that I can do stuff like that at 72! AWESOME!
He is such a stud. It sounds like a great time in good ol' St. Gorgeous!
We love your Dad, too! And your Mom! Hope you had a great kid-free week! Love ya!
That is amazing, I could not to all of those thing. Congrats Bud, and we are all so proud of you!!!
Seriously? Could he be more amazing!! I happen to know one of his neighbors who was very proud of him and had to call my mom to tell her all about it. Way to go Bud!
That is so great that your dad stays in shape and takes care of himself. If he keeps it up he'll outlive all of us! Now I know where you get your love for staying active.
